Persistent investment, in our technology, products, and people, has provided consistent growth and revenue in excess of $25m per year. Colonial has been a world class manufacturer of broach tools, broach and special machines, spline rolling racks, precision spindles (precision rotating products), and special cutting tools. Colonial manages its costs and quality in the only way possible, with in-house control on design and build, including heat treatment and surface treatments of our products.
Colonial has been in the machine tool business for almost 80 years. It was initially established in 1929 as a division of Michigan Tool, but in 1954 it was purchased by the Ex-Cell-O Corporation. Thirty-two years later, in 1986, it was acquired by Textron and ultimately it became Colonial Tool in 1993.
Colonial is a privately held corporation extending its niche in the market with acquisitions of Val-U-Tool (1997) a custom gage builder located in Michigan, and Advanced Cutting Tool Systems Inc. (2007). Our group of companies operate under the umbrella of the Colonial Tool Group, Inc. (CTGI), sometimes just named Colonial.
Colonial's facilities are international with locations in Canada, USA, and Mexico. This provides an overall capacity of 100,000 sq.ft. filled with engineering and manufacturing expertise.
Brett Froats (Principle)- “Colonial's tradition has been to manufacture superior products, but we sell world class services which has kept the customers coming back”. Our tradition of excellence in customer service dates back 80 years, in turn contributing superior in-field service of our products, technical resources, trouble-shooting, material selection, coolants, fixtures, and even more.
